Beyond the Event

By Osama Hafez

I followed the various reactions of the murder of Marwa al Sherbeni, martyr of hijab, so that my comment came a little bit late.

Egyptian Muslims in general showed their condemnation of the crime by participating in Marwa’s funeral and by holding protests. Cairo governor, a number of ministers and parliament members were present too. And the speaker of the parliament released some announcements concerning the incident. Thinkers and media men commented sometimes strongly and other times weakly. In the West, they imposed media blackout at first then they were forced to publish the truth. Many of politicians sympathized with Marwa and attacked racism and called for respecting religious freedom. Even the Jewish organizations in Germany shared Muslims their protest.

However, we have two parties remained silent:

The first was the women’s and human rights groups. Those westernized groups are interested in the West’s problems more than ours. Where are the organizations that fight girls’ circumcision and what they call violence against women? Where are those who advocate adultery and lesbianism?

Isn’t Marwa al Sherbeni a woman? Isn’t she a victim of racism?

Why are you silent? Isn’t this case of a similar weight like that of the girl who died out of an anesthesia overdose during circumcision?

Which is more important?

Are you silent for it is the case of a Muslim woman?

Are you standing still because the motive is black Christian discrimination against hijab?

Do you fear to lose the West financial support?

You are not Egyptians. You do not represent our mothers, sisters and wives who mourned Marwa; the hijab martyr. You are foreigners living on our land.

The second party was human rights groups. They are charity associations for Marxists remains. They secure a livelihood for them as an alternative of the support they used to get from the vanished global communism.

Did you hear about Marwa al Sherbeni?

Why do you keep talking about human rights and issuing statements and condemnations then? Or these things are for Christians and communists only?

Absolutely yes, for you only serve who pays and people like Marwa have no money for you.

The accident of Marwa has debunked these associations. They are not patriots. They do not represent Egypt.

The age of limb donkeys:

We are living the age of limb donkeys after the death of horses. Is there anyone believes that the so called Said al Qemany wins the state’s incentive prize and takes a sum of two thousand pounds from the tax payers, you and me?

What did he do to get such an award?

An observer can easily realize that this man must attacked Islam or so to be honored by the ministry of culture.

You do not need to read his works to know about him, for every time I tried to I felt sick. It is enough to hear the considerations of choosing him for the prize as he said:

He will not leave the second article of the Egyptian constitution; Islam is the main source of legislation, until it is erased.

He calls for the omission of the item “religion” from the identification card because this is a personal affair.

Churches and mosques must be kept away from politics.

He, and people like him, is not an enemy for the regime but he represents a peaceful secular opposition.

He dedicates the award to whom he called the martyr of word; Farag Fouda.

Those are the ones paid tribute by the ministry of culture.

May Allah rescue Egypt
