Welcome Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayeb

Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya in Egypt congratulates Dr. Al-Tayeb for being appointed head of Al-Azhar mosque.

We hope he will resume his ancestors' achievements. Dr. Al-Tayeb takes the position at the time of growing challenges which confront the Islamic world. This world is being attacked by every one while Muslims are falling behind.

Allah has granted Dr. Al-Tayeb the knowledge that can illustrate the truth, guide people, teach ignorant persons and refute the opposition's arguments.

We know that Al-Azhar today faces great challenges that aim to marginalize its role. This comes amid a comprehensive plan to change the cultural identity of Egypt.

However, we are sure that Al-Azhar, which overcame greater problems, is apt to win over all such tricks. We believe it can remain the center of learning and one of the major defenders of the Egyptian Islamic identity.

We are optimistic that Dr. Al-Tayeb will create a way of communication between Al-Azhar and other segments of the society to discuss the top issues that concern the world of Islam in general and Egypt in particular.

Dr. Al-Tayeb was of the first who supported the Non-Violence Initiative. Moreover, he praised the Revisions of Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya.

This may be a push for more dialogues between Al-Azhar and Islamists to reach a method to utilize their abilities to serve our country and religion.

We ask Allah to help the new head of Al-Azhar develop the learning system to take its old position again.

We ask Allah grant success to Sheikh Al-Azhar and its professors to serve and defend Islam. Amen.
