The realist of the West today:
The word {West} is so ambiguous that we cannot determine its connotation. Is it America, Europe or Japan or all? Is it Vatican, the Anglican churches or the Arab Orthodox Churches? Does it mean those who take the decision among the legislative councils Chiefs or the researches centers or the public? No doubt that word {West} means these all and each one has its own attitude which differs from the others, so we cannot judge them all by the same criterion. We can find a change in the attitude of one of the Western countries according to some changes inside the same country.
Here are some examples of these changes in the countries attitudes towards some of the Arabian issues and the Islamic ones. These changes were through the political attitude and the centers of studies and researches as well as the attitudes of the Churches.
We can see these changes from the following incidents:
1. The American support for the Mujahdeen (fighters in the cause of Allah) in Afghanistan against the Russians in 1979.
2. The American refusal of the slaughter which happened to Muslims in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1992 and the slaughter in Qosovo in 1996.
3. The German and French refusal of the war against Iraq in 2003.
4. Spain has taken away its Military force from Iraq after the Knocking out of it Prime Minister in the election and the victory of the other party.
5. The American Democratic Parties refusal of the continuous involvement in occupying Iraq and calling Bush to get the American forces out of Iraq.
6. We assure that these positive aspects towards the Islamic issues are not necessarily come out because of their being convinced of the fairness of our cases and issues. They are not coming out because of their love of Islam but because of their profits.
Research centers and thinkers:
Research centers play in important role in taking decisions in their countries where their governments consider their studies carefully. We should know that The White House under the regime of Bush considers carefully what Bernard Louis, the professor of the Eastern African studies at Princeton University, when the matter is related to the profits of the USA in the Middle East. These centers are controlled by those whom we call [Mustashreqoon] (non-Muslims who study the Islamic religion and culture to find what they think not clear and ambiguous). {Istishraq} is a specific study which has its bases and plans that emerged in Europe and flourished under the colonialism of European Countries in the East. These studies are directed towards the Eastern civilizations, languages, cultures and religions. It was naturally for them to concentrate on Islam in their studies. Their studies lacked objectivity and invented reasons for continuing the European colonialism in the East to seize control on its treasures and recourses. When the American shared in these studies, the spot of these people increased. Some of them followed the European thought as they considered Islam the challenge and the enemy of the West and its civilization can co olive with the Islamic one. We should distinguished between these different ideas and not put them in one scale. There are many tendencies in dividing the opinion of the Western thinkers:
1- Some thinkers believe that danger lies in Islam itself, its teaching and scriptures. They are from the old Christian thought like Stief Emerson, Pat Robortson, Jerry Fowl, Franklin Greham and John Wift. Others are Buddists like the India British writer who won the Noble Prize in Art. His name was Nipol.
2- The group of thinkers and analysists like Kinsnger, Hington, Bernard Louis, Vokouyama who do not see the danger in Islam itself. The danger lies in the beliefs of Islam. Islam controls a political and economical power against the West. Kisnger says {Islam is more dangerous than the communist thought against the Western civilization}. The ex-Minister of foreign, Hobier fidreen, says {we laughed at Hington when he said that there would be a big conflict between Islam and the West. However, he was alarming us}. Bernard Louis said {Usamah Ibn Lden and the Qaiddah do not represent Islam but they had their beliefs from the Islamic culture}. Hington assured ((we are living in the age of the Islamic wars)). Foko Yamah said ((our battle is not against Islam as a religion or a culture, but it is against the Islamic Nazim)).
1- There are the new preservatives who do not reject Islam as a religion, but they reject and oppose everything which obstructs the American sovereignty all over the world. They believe that this obstruction lies in the Islamic world which faces the American sovereignty whether in the shape of (Groups) or (states).
2- There are some thinkers see no problem in Islam but in its restrictions in the way Muslims think and behave. Fareed Zakaria said ((The problem is not in Islam, but in the way the Arabs think)). He believes that Arabs lack the logical alternatives. Fouad Agami said that the cultured Arab thinkers failed to introduce a criticizing vision of their societies and they are always blaming the non-Muslim countries.
3- Some thinkers inside the USA and Europe believe that the danger lies in the Islamic members and communities inside the Western countries. They bekieve that Muslims there represent a violent danger because of the Islamic doctrine and Shariaah like Halal meet for ashool children, girls circumcision, having more than one wife and imposing one man for the girl to marry. They believe that these acts represent a cultural shock.
4- There are some people who defend everything which is Arabic and Islamic inside the American and the European communities. This defense comes out from their belief in the values and the right of the Western civilization. Most of them have relations with Arabs because of the Oil supply in the Arab countries. John Aspozito, Pauli Findly, Karine Armstrong, Roger Owen, Lion Hider, Ferd Hallyday, Greham Foller, Murad Hofman, Patrick Seal and Ropert Fisk belong to those who adopt this belief and thought.
The Christian Churches:
We can notice a change in the view of churches, especially those which have some Israeli roots. They believe in a conflict vision based in the teaching of the Talmud. They are the other churches, the Anglicans, which refuses this vision. We can find some churches in the USA which support the right of the Palestinians to establish their own state on their own land.
The proplem of generalization:
We should be careful when we study the attitudes of the West, Europe and America. Without distinguishing between the positive and the passive responses of the Western countries, We cannot deal with the West as a whole unite against Islam. The wrong evaluation results in wrong decisions and waste chances in a hard time when Islam has enough enemies to face and deprive Muslims from making use of the Western technology which we need too much and this is unaccepted from the view point of the Islamic Jurisprudence."
