This issue is repeated when you make a survey in the USA about the refusal of the majority of the American people of continuing the occupation of Iraq.
It was raised lately when Nancy Policy, the chairwoman of the American council who belongs to the Democratic Party, paid a visit to Syria in April 2007. This visit came to make the attitude against Bush and his policies in Iraq clear.
The visit can be related to the presidential elections, which will be held in November 2008, which might lead to having the authority in the USA, by the democratic party which means a rapid withdrawal from Iraq. And big changes in the American policies towards the whole area.
Accepted Questions
It might be said that the difference between the Democratic and the public parties is a difference of partial attitude .There is no difference between them as both are passive towards Islam and Muslims. There is no difference between Bush and Nancy or Blair and Chirac.
They are all from the West and all of them are enemies of Islam. Before answering the head question, we need to divide it into sub-questions.
What do we mean by {The west}? Is it America or Europe? Do we mean the Western countries as being states or peoples? Is it the survey centers or churches? Which time are we talking ,about? Are we talking about the west attitude towards Muslims Sunnah , Shiaa or Sofy? Are we talking about Islam as being religion, peoples, governments or minorities or movements?
All these questions show that we dealing with many issues which is completed and need to be studied carefully. It also shows that we cannot speak in a general way and say that all the west is against Islam. The opinion and the attitude of Islam towards this issue:
Islam has a wise plan to deal with its opponents. The head of this plan is fairness and its body is thoroughness when it deals with its opponents according to how much they are against Islam. We can say that Islam has put some bases dealing with and classifying those who are against Islam…
1- Fairness while judging by refusing generalization with Islam's opponents without considering the aspects of their opposing attitudes.
2- Varying its policies dealing with them.
3- Differentiating between making illegal alliance or friendships (from the view point of Sharia) and the legal opposition.
4- Helping each other in enjoining what is righteous and pious. Now we are going to deal with each point in a brief way.
Fair judgment Islam is against generalization when you judge people and societies or even Islam's opponents. Because generalization does not cope with the principle of fairness which Islam adopts. Generalization means that there is no difference between an opponent who is an enemy and a peaceful opponent and this who is a supporter. Generalization means that there is no effect of the degree of being against Islam and this is unaccepted, because Islam has differentiated between heathens, the people of the Book, the people who follow new ideas (which are not of the Islamic ones), those who commit great sins like stealing and killing Islam does not put these all on equal feet. When we consider the Quranic Verses and the Hadiths of the Prophet {PHUH} we will find out the fairness of Islam and its greatness. Allah the Almighty says {You will surely find the most hostile of people to the believers are the Jews and the Polytheists, and you will surely find the nearest in affection to the believers are those who said, {we are Nasara [the followers of Jesus],} this is because there are among them men who believe the truth, and they are not arrogant} (Surah 5-83 In this verse, Allah the Al-mighty distinguishes between the Jews and the Polytheists on one hand and on the other hand these who say , {we are Nsara} as they follow Jesus though they are all against his Prophet Muhammad "PBUH".
The Quran shows that these people are different in the way they deal with others.
Among the People of the Scripture there is he who, if thou trust him with a weight of treasure, will return it to thee. And among them there is he who, if thou trust him with a piece of gold, will not return it to thee unless thou keep standing over him. That is because they say: We have no duty to the Gentiles. They speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly. Surah 3-75
They are not all alike. Of the People of the Scripture there is a staunch community who recite the revelations of Allah in the night season, falling prostrate (before Him). Surah 3-113
It was naturally that Islam has distinguished between those who fight Muslims by all means they have and those who do not fight Islam .
"Allah forbiddeth you not those who warred not against you on account of religion and drove you not out from your homes, that ye should show them kindness and deal justly with them. Lo! Allah loveth the just dealers. Allah forbiddeth you only those who warred against you on account of religion and have driven you out from your homes and helped to drive you out that ye make friends of them. Whosoever maketh friends of them (All) such are wrong doers." Surah 60-8/9
This classification of those who are against Islam does not include the people of the earlier Scripture only , it includes the groups .
" They swear unto you, that ye may accept them. Though ye accept them, Allah verily accepteth not wrongdoing folk. The wandering Arabs are harder in disbelief and hypocrisy, and more likely to be ignorant of the limits that Allah hath revealed unto His messenger. And Allah is knower, Wise. And of the wandering Arabs there is he who taketh that which he expendeth (for the cause of Allah), as a loss, and awaiteth (evil) turns of fortune for you (that he may be rid of it) . The evil turn of fortune will be theirs. Allah is Nearer, Knower. " Surah 9-/96-97-98
The prophet (PBUH) told His companion in Mecca to go to Habasha (Ethiopia) as there was a fair king there even though the king was not Muslim. You can realize how wise the prophet (PBUH) was and you can also realize His farsighted view. He (PBUH) taught us how to differentiate between those who have positive attitudes towards Islam and Muslims and those who have passive ones whatever their beliefs. The prophet (PBUH)also said {If Moataem had been alive and had asked Me to set free these men (men captured in Badr Battle), I would have give them to him}we should know that Motaem Ibn Auddi protected the prophet (PBUH) when He (PBUH) came back to Mecca from Al-Taef. Varying policies dealing with our opponents Islam does not only bear good tidings of noble aims but also bears the principles and the ways of making them real through different ways. Islam , as being the Revelation of Allah is aware that people are different so it deals with the realist withes its new changes and its new reactions. It was logical for Islam to have varied means and ways to present to Muslims to make them more objective and effective in achieving their aims. Islam realizes that through changing the realist and setting up its building by the values of Islam will clash with those who will refuse Islam and be its enemy that will seek to destroy Islam. The remedy that Islam presents is different and varied. The remedy of ignorance is knowledge, the remedy of refusal is convincing and the remedy of aggression is reacting to it and using coercive power to face this aggression. When Islam orders and ordains its follower to apply what Allah ordain, it knows that Muslims are sometimes able to do so and sometimes they are not, so Islam has given them different ways of dealing with different circumstances. Without this variety, Islam will be inflexible doctrine that causes troubles to its followers. ((...He has not imposed difficulty upon you in Religion...)) Surah 22-78.
And Allah the Al-might describes His prophet (PBUH)! ((Certainly there has come to you a messenger from among yourselves, grievous to him is your suffering , ardently anxious is he over you , to the believers he is compassionate and merciful)) . Surah 9-128
Islam is not an imaginary religion, it is real. He who extracts these various ways in one method is mistaken. There is no one perfect way to deal with all facts and situations. Muslim should search for the suitable solution for each problem. Some people thinks that Jihad is the answer and the fight is the way. If these people consider the Quaranic Verses carefully, studied, and contemplated on the prophetical biography, they will know that the military solution is not obligation or the unique answer to all problems. They should know that Jihad is one choice among different choices and a way among the various ways. Each way has its own reason and judgments. We invite them to know the Prophetical choices and policies, which are full of wisdom, supported by Revelation. Setting up the Religion and making the people worship Allah were the axis of the life of the prophet (PBUH). These aims were the motivation which made the prophet (PBUH) make friendships or enemies, and to achieve them He (PBUH) used every means.
